We couldn't be happier or more excited at the news that Pet Station has come to Incline Village! As many of you know, we are a dog-loving office here at Lakeshore Realty — oftentimes you'll see our little furballs here. We are thrilled that we now will have a quality, full service pet store offering a wide variety of the best premium food and supplies at competitive prices in our own neighborhood. No more having to trek over the mountain!
Pet Station has been in the Lake Tahoe area since 2006, with other locations in Truckee, Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe. Their stores carry a complete line of supplies and accessories for dogs, cats, small animals, reptiles, birds, fresh and saltwater fish. Pet Station DOES NOT sell dogs or cats; rather, the staff actively works with local animal shelters to promote area adoptions. And now they have a store conveniently located at 910 Tahoe Blvd, next door to Ace Hardware in the old Video Maniacs building!
With over 6,000 square feet, they will make good use of the space in a variety of ways. In addition to the store they plan to offer grooming, dog training classes and — with the new multipurpose room — they will be able to offer seminars on a wide range of topics, such as pet nutrition.

"Our primary focus is the customer and we will always do our best to satisfy everyone."
Speaking from personal experience, we are thrilled to have such knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful people in our community. Please join us in welcoming them!

Yea… It’s Shakespeare Time again!

Shakespeare’s doubly-delightful comedy

By William Shakespeare, Directed by Charles Fee
July 13-August 26, 2012

Before you know it, it’s gone! Don’t let it slip away without seeing the Bard at Sand Harbor.

The 40th anniversary season commences with an exhilarating production that features gorgeous costumes, stunning sets, and a live onstage band that infuses the show with an infectious folk/rock soundscape. Also, don't forget, one of the most talented professional acting companies in the West!

Shakespeare’s The Two Gentlemen of Verona is sure to enchant the entire family. Bosom buddies Valentine and Proteus are Verona’s closest comrades, but their friendship is put to the ultimate test when Proteus forsakes his beloved Julia and competes for the affections of Valentine’s newfound love, the strong-willed Silvia.  Teeming with high comic scenes and rich, romantic language, Two Gents displays Shakespeare’s copious comic powers at their hilarious height.

Donate Platelets for Courtenay

by Lakeshore Realty

One of our neighbors can use your help. Courtenay Silvergleid Wallpe, Ph.D., 42, was diagnosed with a life threatening strain of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a blood cancer, in late 2010. She now needs a bone marrow transplant. She was scheduled to have one last month when she found out the devastating news that the potential donor was no longer a "match". This was the fourth potential identified match unable to donate for various reasons.

A mother of two young boys, Zachary and Zander, Courtenay has also been a long-time source of inspiration and hard work for our community. She served as Board President of Tahoe SAFE Alliance, facilitated the strategic planning process for Tahoe Expedition Academy, created Terrific Trekkers, a hiking club for kids and their families, and been involved with MOMS (Mom's Offering Mothers Support) since 2004.

Courtenay and her husband Bryan say there are two options for donating platelets:

  1. The first option is to have your platelets typed specifically for Courtenay.  The results from this test will take approximately 2 days to receive.  Because they will expedite the process, this test costs $213.  If you are a match for Courtenay, you will be asked to come back to donate platelets.  If you are not a match, you can choose to have your information go into the national registry for others seeking a platelet match.
  2. The second option is to be tested for the national registry.  The results from this test will take approximately 4 weeks.  This test is $58.  If you are a match for Courtenay, that will be identified.  If not, again, you will be in the national registry for others seeking a match.

There is only a small chance that you would be a match for Courtenay based on her unique HLA typing.  Should you be a match, however, either option has the potential to be beneficial as she will likely require transfusions for the next several months.

If you would like to be tested but the cost of either option is prohibitive, Courtenay and Bryan have set aside funds from their HelpHopeLive account to help subsidize the cost.

For those of you living in the Tahoe area, United Blood Services out of Reno will be coming to Incline Village Thursday, June 28 from 8:00 AM-Noon to do testing.  They will be set up at the Main Fire Station in town.  If you would like to be tested, please take the following steps

Send an e-mail to with the following:

1)  Name as it appears on your Drivers License

2)  A contact phone number so that Bill can confirm a time with you

3)  Which option you would like and if you would like the HelpHopeLive fund to cover all or a portion of the cost.

Please note that United Blood Services only accept credit cards.

If you can't make it on Thursday but would still like to help, you can contact United Blood Services directly at (775) 324-6454 to set up an appointment.

If you do not live in the area but would like to be tested to see if you are a match for Courtenay, you can contact Bill Ferrall at to get the details that you will need.  If you would simply like to go into the national registry, you can go directly to your local blood bank for details.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our dear friend Bill Ferrall at (775) 830-7113 or as he has graciously agreed to handle the details of the platelet search!!

Let’s all do what we can for this dynamic woman who has been of such service to our community.

by Lakeshore Realty

We’re getting ready for the fireworks and other fun events coming up in Incline Village! Here are a few of our favorites:

Remember the 37th Annual North Tahoe Lions Club 4th of July Pancake Breakfast and Charity Raffle!

We love this annual event. Every year we run into people we haven’t seen in awhile and have a chance to catch up –- in other words, good eats and good conversation! All the money raised stays here locally. The Lions Club’s contributions to our area have supported the Boys & Girls Club, Tahoe SAFE Alliance, our local schools and the Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center. According to Lions Club President Karen Duncan, “We’ve also helped hundreds of children in this area get eyeglasses who couldn’t afford them otherwise. This is part of the Lions Club worldwide effort to restore sight and prevent blindness.”

Date: Wednesday, July 4th

Place: Aspen Grove, Incline Village (across from Ski Beach)

Time: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

Breakfast Donations: $10 for adults (13 years & over); $5 for children (6-12 years); Children under 6 free.

Mortgage Rates Drop Back Near All-Time Lows

by Lakeshore Realty
  • Mortgage Rates Drop Back Near All-Time Lows

Mortgage Rates as European markets, and to a lesser extent, domestic economic data, dragged bond market interest rates lower. Rates were generally higher in the last few days following the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) Announcement, but today's improvements in the mortgage sector bring rates very near their all-time lows. Some lenders' rate sheets are equivalent to Monday's while others are not quite there yet. In either case, the actual interest rate quoted is likely to be the same between today and Monday with only small variations in closing costs (or credit, depending on your scenario). Best-Execution remains at 3.625% for Conventional 30 year Fixed Loans.

Long Term Guidance: We'd continue to advocate not trying to "get ahead" of current market movements as a high degree of uncertainty is pervasive. While it's a reasonably safe assumption that European concerns will generally help rates stay lower than they otherwise would be, that "otherwise would be" part is very much a moving target. Best bet is to focus on the fact that rates are at their all time lows, and can change quickly based on events that aren't "scheduled" or able to be forecast. Risk vs reward for floating vs locking looks a bit larger than we'd like, but not out of the question for those who understand the risks and have an exit strategy if things don't go their way.
